Date sent: Thu, 19 Mar 1998 04:08:37 -1000 From: SoftLynx About KanjiLynx Demo (Macintosh) I want to post this demo on the Monash archive to provide easy access to interested users. Here is a brief description of the program: The KanjiLynx System has been designed particuarly for intermediate/advanced learners of written Japanese. The program supports modules (Titles) to provide an expanding library of reading materials for the learner allowing her to read actual Japanese texts and have direct access to details of individual kanji. The focus is on reading and not merely memorizing kanji. Various types of Titles have been and continue to be developed. These range from: 1) Textual Readings which allow the user to read the text in Japanese, see a translation in English, see what each word means in English, hear the complete text spoken by a native speaker, and have direct access to more detailed information of each kanji included in the text. 2) Practical Readings which offer the same access features of the Textual Readings but are of a practical use as well, for example, in one Practical Reading Title, Cities & Prefectures, the learner becomes familiar with both the locaction and the reading of 100 of the largest cities of Japan and all the prefectures as well as the kanji included in each. Each Title is an optional addition to the KanjiLynx System that to user can choose and is offered at a low price. I will stop with this but will be happy to provide any other information that would be useful. Thanks much for your help. Geoff Gilbert info@softlynx.com
