KanjiFlash v1.0 by Marshall Ramsey (c) 1997 Description: KanjiFlash is a shareware Japanese character flashcard system for reading and writing Japanese. The program is written entirely in Java and can be run on many platforms. KanjiFlash uses flaschcard files in the same format as Jim Breen's Edict file and KiComp's Kanji Guess program that can easily be created using a Japanese word processor. It is highly customizable allowing for English to Japanese or Japanese to English lessons. Lesson items can be composed of a single character, multi-character phrases, and sentences. The registered version learns which items are difficult for you, remembers them, and can create a review based on this information. A drawing area is included for the user to practice writing with a mouse. Registration is a mere US$15 (US$23 outside US). Requirements: This program is written in Java and requires the Java Runtime Environment for all locales or the Java JDK v1.1.2 or higher. In addition, you will need at least one Japanese scalable font installed on your computer. I have successfully run KanjiFlash on Windows 95, Windows NT, and Linux. This does not mean that the program cannot run on other platforms, only that I have not tested it on them. Installation: Unzip this program into a directory and then refer to the readme.txt file for information on obtaining Java and Japanese scalable fonts.
