Some info about the program: - What is @Random? @Random is a simple program for learning vocabulary of East Asian languages with a multiple choice and a fill in exercise. It's freeware, so feel free to copy and distribute it amongst your friends and relatives. However it is prohibited to publish and sell @Random without my prior written permission. - History of @Random I built the first version of this application in the form of a Hypercard-stack while I was doing research in Japan on Computer Assisted Japanese Language Instruction at Tokyo Gakugei University on a Canon Foundation Research Fellowship in 1996. I was fed up learning Japanese vocabulary from lists, so I started building @Random to randomise Japanese vocabulary. Colleagues and friends started using the stack too and encouraged me to write an update and improve the stack with exercises. One year later while I was working at the Japanese Language Institute of the Japan Foundation in Urawa, Japan, I started rewriting the stack and had it tested by some colleagues. After having returned to Leiden University, I was encouraged to improve the stack and make it available to our students at the Centre for Japanese and Korean Studies. @Random 2.0 is the result.
